Why did you become a Physio?
I have always been fond of physical activity and problem solving since my schooling years. When I was in university, I began my training in Weightlifting and grew a strong passion for the biomechanics and individual components that comprise human movement. I was not initially aware of Physiotherapy as a profession until I was already studying in university. Since then, I transferred from my IT degree to Physiotherapy and have loved every step of the way.
What do you love about being a Physio?
What I love about being a Physiotherapist is the ability to incorporate my passion for biomechanics, pathophysiology, sports, and functional anatomy. I have had my fair share of injuries in the past, and understand the difficulties in returning to sport/possibility of early retirement. Being in this role allows me to offer the same support to people who are in the same position as I was. I am particularly fond of athletes in strength sports, shoulders, and knees. My favourite part of physiotherapy would be figuring out the underlying problems affecting a patient, then developing an appropriate treatment plan that best suits them.
