Focus on Hands-On Therapy
At Activ Therapy, we believe in a hands-on, patient-centred approach to physiotherapy. Every session is dedicated one-on-one time — we don't double-book, and we don't rush. Our physiotherapists use advanced manual therapy techniques including joint mobilisation, soft tissue work, dry needling, and therapeutic exercise to address the root cause of your condition — not just the symptoms. We treat you as a whole person, working to understand the lifestyle and biomechanical factors contributing to your pain or injury.
Symptoms We Assess & Treat
Physiotherapy is for anyone whose pain, injury or physical limitation is getting in the way of work, sport, or everyday life — from tradies and office workers to athletes, new parents, and older adults staying active and independent. If you're experiencing any of the following, our physiotherapists can help.
Pain
Acute or persistent pain in the back, neck, joints, muscles or tendons — including pain that limits work, sport or daily activities.
Instability & giving way
Joints that feel loose, unstable or that "give way" — commonly the knee, ankle or shoulder after a sprain or injury.
Nerve symptoms
Pins and needles, numbness, tingling or shooting pain travelling into an arm or leg — often linked to the spine or a trapped nerve.
Referred pain
Pain felt away from its true source — such as headaches driven by the neck, or leg pain originating in the lower back.
Weakness
Loss of strength, muscle wasting or difficulty using a limb normally, whether from injury, surgery or deconditioning.
Loss of balance
Unsteadiness, dizziness or reduced confidence on your feet, and an increased risk of falls — particularly relevant for older adults.
What Happens at Your First Visit
Your first appointment is a dedicated one-on-one session — typically 30 to 45 minutes — where we get to the bottom of your problem and start you on the road to recovery.
Understanding your story
We start by listening. Your physiotherapist takes a detailed history of your symptoms, how the problem started, what makes it better or worse, and what you want to get back to.
Physical assessment
A thorough hands-on examination of your movement, strength, joints and nerves to accurately identify the root cause — not just the symptoms.
Diagnosis & explanation
We explain what's going on in plain language, so you understand your condition, your likely recovery timeframe, and how we'll get you there.
Treatment & a plan
Most patients begin hands-on treatment on the very first visit. You'll leave with a clear, personalised plan and, where helpful, exercises to start straight away.
