Exercise as Medicine
Our Exercise Physiologists don't just hand you a generic exercise sheet. They conduct a comprehensive assessment, understand your medical history and goals, and prescribe a progressively challenging, personalised program — monitored and refined at each session. Services are eligible under Medicare CDM plans, NDIS, DVA, WorkCover, and private health insurance.
What Does an Accredited Exercise Physiologist Do?
It's one of the most misunderstood professions in healthcare — so here's the plain-English version. An Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) is a university-qualified allied health professional who uses exercise as a prescribed medical treatment.
Where a personal trainer focuses on general fitness, an AEP is trained to work with injury, illness and complex medical conditions. They assess your body, understand your medical history, and prescribe a precise, progressive exercise program — the right movements, at the right intensity, in the right order — to treat your condition safely and get you results that last. In short: they're the experts in exercise as medicine.
Who May Benefit From Exercise Physiology?
You don't need to be an athlete — and you don't need to be sick. Exercise physiology helps two main groups of people get stronger, healthier and more capable.
Managing a chronic condition
If you're living with diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, arthritis, cancer, or a mental health condition, an AEP uses exercise as a genuine form of medicine — safely dosed and progressed to improve your health and quality of life.
Recovering from injury or surgery
Think of this as personal training with a clinical brain. When you're coming back from an injury, surgery or a long layoff, an AEP rebuilds your strength, fitness and confidence in a way that's safe for your body — bridging the gap between rehab and returning to full activity.
Two Ways to Train With Us
Depending on your goals, budget and stage of recovery, your Exercise Physiologist may recommend one-on-one sessions, group classes, or a combination of both.
Individual exercise prescription
A dedicated one-on-one program built around your goals, health history and current capacity. Your AEP assesses you, prescribes a personalised program, and progresses it session by session — closely monitoring your technique and results.
