Physiotherapy Questions Answered
Do I need a referral to see a physiotherapist?+
No referral is required to see a physiotherapist at Activ Therapy. You can book directly online or by phone. However, if you have a GP referral, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate under a Chronic Disease Management Plan.
What should I wear to my physiotherapy appointment?+
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated. For lower limb issues, shorts are ideal. For shoulder or back problems, a singlet or loose t-shirt works well.
How many physiotherapy sessions will I need?+
This depends on your condition, how long you have had it, and your individual response to treatment. Many acute injuries improve within 4–6 sessions, while chronic conditions may require an ongoing management plan. Your physiotherapist will discuss a realistic treatment timeline at your first appointment.
Do you accept private health insurance?+
Yes, we accept all major private health funds. We have HICAPS on-site so you can claim your rebate on the spot. The out-of-pocket cost depends on your level of cover.
