Understanding Your Condition

What Causes Ankle Sprain?

Ankle Sprain is one of the most common conditions we treat at Activ Therapy. Understanding the underlying cause is the first step towards lasting relief. Our practitioners take the time to properly assess your condition before beginning any treatment — because the right diagnosis leads to the right treatment.

Our Approach

How We Treat Ankle Sprain

Ankle sprains are one of the most commonly mismanaged sports injuries. Proper rehabilitation is essential to prevent chronic instability. Our physiotherapists guide you through a staged rehabilitation program: acute management (RICE, taping), mobility restoration, progressive strengthening, balance and proprioception training, and sport-specific return-to-activity.

Recovery Expectations

Grade 1 sprains recover in 1–2 weeks. Grade 2 sprains take 3–6 weeks. Grade 3 (complete ligament tears) require 6–12 weeks of rehabilitation. Chronic instability may require surgery followed by 3–6 months of post-operative rehabilitation.
