What We Treat

Common Conditions We See from Casula

These are the problems our Casula team treats most often for Casula patients. Every treatment plan starts with a full assessment — we work out what's actually driving your pain before we treat it.

Knee Pain

Common Causes

  • ACL and PCL injuries
  • Meniscus tears
  • Patellofemoral pain syndrome (runners knee)
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Iliotibial band (ITB) syndrome

How We Treat It

Knee rehabilitation at Activ Therapy focuses on restoring strength, movement, and function. Our physiotherapists assess biomechanical factors including hip strength, foot posture, and movement patterns that contribute to knee pain. Treatment includes manual therapy, targeted strengthening exercises, taping/bracing where appropriate, and education on load management.

What to Expect

Patellofemoral pain typically responds within 6–10 sessions. ACL and meniscus rehabilitation takes 6–12 months for full return to sport. Knee OA management is an ongoing process focused on maintaining function and quality of life.

Shoulder Pain

Common Causes

  • Rotator cuff tears or tendinopathy
  • Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis)
  • Shoulder impingement syndrome
  • AC joint injuries
  • Biceps tendinopathy

How We Treat It

Shoulder conditions require precise diagnosis to determine the appropriate treatment approach. Our physiotherapists perform a thorough shoulder assessment including range of motion testing, strength assessment, and special orthopaedic tests. Treatment may include joint mobilisation, rotator cuff strengthening, postural correction, dry needling, and activity modification advice.

What to Expect

Recovery varies significantly by condition. Shoulder impingement typically responds within 6–10 sessions. Frozen shoulder can take 3–12 months for full resolution. Post-surgical shoulder rehabilitation typically takes 3–6 months.

Hip & Anterior Hip Pain

Common Causes

  • Hip flexor strains
  • Femoroacetabular impingement (FAI)
  • Hip labral tears
  • Iliopsoas tendinopathy
  • Gluteal tendinopathy

How We Treat It

Hip pain requires careful assessment to differentiate between intra-articular (inside the joint) and extra-articular (outside the joint) pathology. Our physiotherapists use clinical assessment and referral for imaging where necessary to establish an accurate diagnosis. Treatment focuses on hip mobility, glute and hip flexor strength, and movement pattern correction.

What to Expect

Hip flexor and gluteal tendinopathy typically responds within 8–12 weeks. Hip OA and post-surgical hip rehabilitation requires a longer-term management approach tailored to your functional goals.

Back Pain

Common Causes

  • Poor posture from prolonged sitting or standing
  • Muscle strains and ligament sprains
  • Disc bulges or herniation
  • Degenerative disc disease
  • Sciatica (nerve compression)

How We Treat It

Our physiotherapists and chiropractors conduct a comprehensive assessment to identify the exact source of your back pain. Treatment typically combines hands-on manual therapy to restore movement, dry needling to release tight muscles, and a progressive exercise program to strengthen supporting muscles and prevent recurrence. We take a whole-person approach — addressing posture, movement patterns, and lifestyle factors that contribute to back pain.

What to Expect

Most patients experience significant relief within 4–8 sessions. Acute back pain typically resolves in 4–6 weeks. Chronic back pain requires a longer-term rehabilitation approach (8–12 weeks) with an exercise program for sustained results.
