Ankle Sprain
Common Causes
- Lateral ankle sprain (rolling inward)
- Medial ankle sprain (rolling outward)
- High ankle sprain (syndesmosis injury)
- Chronic ankle instability from repeated sprains
- Peroneal tendon injuries
How We Treat It
Ankle sprains are one of the most commonly mismanaged sports injuries. Proper rehabilitation is essential to prevent chronic instability. Our physiotherapists guide you through a staged rehabilitation program: acute management (RICE, taping), mobility restoration, progressive strengthening, balance and proprioception training, and sport-specific return-to-activity.
What to Expect
Grade 1 sprains recover in 1–2 weeks. Grade 2 sprains take 3–6 weeks. Grade 3 (complete ligament tears) require 6–12 weeks of rehabilitation. Chronic instability may require surgery followed by 3–6 months of post-operative rehabilitation.
