Do I need a referral to see an Exercise Physiologist?+

No referral is needed to see an Exercise Physiologist at Activ Therapy. However, a GP referral under a Chronic Disease Management Plan (CDMP) or Team Care Arrangement (TCA) may entitle you to Medicare rebates for up to 5 sessions per year.

Is Exercise Physiology funded by the NDIS?+

Yes, Exercise Physiology services are funded under the NDIS as a therapeutic support. Our Exercise Physiologists are experienced in delivering NDIS-funded programs for participants of all ages and abilities.

What is the difference between an Exercise Physiologist and a personal trainer?+

Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are university-qualified allied health professionals with specialised training in clinical exercise prescription for chronic disease, disability, and injury rehabilitation. Personal trainers focus on fitness and performance for generally healthy individuals. AEPs can claim Medicare and private health rebates.

What happens at my first Exercise Physiology appointment?+

Your initial appointment involves a thorough health assessment including your medical history, current medications, fitness levels, and goals. Your Exercise Physiologist will then develop a personalised exercise program tailored specifically to your condition and objectives.
