Dizziness & Vertigo Physiotherapy
If the room spins when you roll over in bed, or you feel unsteady on your feet, it is often treatable — and frequently in just a few appointments. Our vestibular-trained physiotherapists in Liverpool and Casula work out what is actually causing it, then treat it.
Appointments at Liverpool & Casula · Mon–Fri 7am–7pm · Sat 8am–2pm
Does This Sound Like You?
Dizziness is a symptom, not a diagnosis — and people describe it in very different ways. Any of the following are worth having assessed.
What Causes Dizziness & Vertigo?
Different causes need genuinely different treatment, which is why the assessment matters more than any single technique. These are the presentations we see most often.
BPPV — Loose Inner-Ear Crystals
The most common cause of true spinning vertigo. Crystals dislodge into the wrong part of the inner ear and fire off false movement signals. Treated with repositioning manoeuvres such as Epley, and it often resolves in one to three appointments.
Vestibular Neuritis or Labyrinthitis
Inflammation of the balance nerve, usually after a virus. Causes days of severe vertigo followed by weeks of unsteadiness. Responds well to a graded gaze-stability and balance retraining program.
Cervicogenic Dizziness
Dizziness driven by the neck — common alongside neck stiffness, headaches or after whiplash. Treatment targets the neck joints and muscles rather than the inner ear.
Post-Concussion & Vestibular Migraine
Dizziness, visual motion sensitivity and fatigue that linger after a head knock, or that come in episodes with migraine. Managed with graded exposure, habituation exercises and pacing.
Age-Related Balance Loss
Balance declines gradually with age and is a leading cause of falls. It is also very trainable — targeted balance and strength work measurably reduces falls risk.
What Happens When You Come In
A vestibular assessment is thorough by design — the goal of the first session is to identify which system is causing your symptoms, because that determines everything that follows.
A Detailed History
What your dizziness feels like, how long each episode lasts, what triggers it, and what else has changed. This alone narrows the likely cause substantially. We also screen for the red flags that need a doctor rather than a physio.
Structured Testing
Positional testing such as Dix-Hallpike, eye movement and gaze stability testing, balance and walking assessment, and a neck screen. We explain what we are looking for and what we find as we go.
Treatment on Day One
Where the cause is BPPV, repositioning treatment usually starts in that first appointment. Otherwise you leave with a specific exercise program, clear expectations about timeframes, and advice on driving, work and activity.
